Marketing for SAP Partners: How to Choose an Agency That Knows the SAP Field

SAP partners buy marketing differently from other technology companies, and most agencies never adjust for it. The sales cycle runs long, the buying committee includes an SAP partner manager who has opinions about how you go to market, and the calendar is anchored to SAP's own event schedule rather than your campaign plan.

If you are evaluating agencies, here is what separates the ones who understand that from the ones who treat SAP as a keyword.

What makes SAP partner marketing different

Three things, and each one breaks a standard B2B playbook.

The buying committee is larger than it looks. Alongside the customer's IT and business stakeholders, your SAP partner manager influences positioning, co-marketing approval, and which opportunities get support. Marketing that ignores that relationship produces campaigns the field will not carry.

The calendar is not yours. Field kick-off, SAP NOW, regional user group events, and the customer conference set the rhythm. Campaigns that ignore this cycle land in the weeks when the field has no capacity to follow up.

Positioning has to work twice. Your message needs to differentiate you from other partners while staying legible inside SAP's own category language. That is a harder writing problem than it sounds, and it is where generalist agencies usually produce something that reads well and sells nothing.

What to look for in an agency

Ask for the names of SAP programs they have worked on. Not the SAP logo on a client wall, the actual programs. An agency that has run field enablement or a customer event inside the account will name it without hesitating.

Ask who on the team has operated inside SAP. Agency-side SAP knowledge decays quickly. Someone who has carried a target or built a marketing organization inside the company reads the field differently from someone who has read the partner portal.

Ask how they handle the event cycle. If the answer is about booth design rather than the twelve weeks either side of the event, the pipeline conversation has not happened.

Ask what they will do with your existing systems. Most partner marketing teams are small. An agency that hands back a strategy your team of two cannot run has solved the wrong problem.

What Nytro has delivered inside SAP

Each of the programs below was delivered by our team.

The SAP Field Kick-Off Meeting for Latin America and the Caribbean, a field enablement event for the SAP sales organization across the region. SAP NOW, as a customer-facing event program. The SAP Cloud Accelerator Program, where we ran marketing strategy for an SAP partner-facing program. ASUG México, working with the user group in the Mexican market.

On the partner side, we run marketing for companies selling into the SAP base, including Data Migration International, UNIORG, and ACSIS.

Who runs this work

Tom Pfister, our co-founder, built SAP's marketing organization across Europe, the United States, Latin America, the Middle East, and Asia Pacific. That is where our reading of the SAP field comes from, and it is why our recommendations tend to survive contact with a partner manager.

Our team works across Europe, North America, Latin America, and Peru, in English, German, Spanish, and French. For a partner expanding across regions, that removes the handoff problem, where strategy gets written in one market and executed badly in another.

Three programs we run for SAP partners

Event-led demand generation. SAP partners sell at events, and most underinvest in the twelve weeks around them. We build the campaign that fills the room, the experience that makes it memorable, and the follow-up that turns attendance into pipeline. This is our deepest capability and where our SAP work is concentrated.

Partner co-marketing. Joint campaigns with SAP and with your own technology partners, built to satisfy both sets of brand guidelines without turning into a committee exercise. We have run this from both sides, inside SAP's marketing organization and on behalf of partners.

HubSpot and revenue operations. Implementation and ongoing management, aligning marketing, sales, and customer success in one system, with reporting on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly cycle. Built so a small team can actually run it.

How we work with AI

Our position is public and specific: AI generates, experts direct. Routine production is automated. Strategic judgment, brand nuance, storytelling, and process design stay with our consultants. For an SAP partner the practical effect is more output per retainer, without the generic content that AI produces when nobody senior is steering it.

We also teach it. Our Advanced ChatGPT training has been delivered to United VARs, the global alliance of SAP solution providers and itself a global SAP Platinum Partner, whose membership spans more than 70 hand-selected SAP partners. We have run the same training for marketing and business development teams at member firms, including Convista, an SAP Gold Partner based in Cologne, and Westrocon, an SAP Platinum Partner operating across South Africa and the United States.

Emily Mguni, Marketing Manager at Westrocon, described the shift:

Before discovering ChatGPT, I questioned the need for a tool that would take credit for the work it produced. Would it be possible for me to promote work done by a robot while still boosting my self-esteem? As a marketer, I also faced the challenges of delivering daily content.
Following the Nytro Marketing Advance ChatGPT training, I became confident in using AI. With the tips provided in the training, ChatGPT makes my job effortless. The training has increased the effectiveness and engagement of my writing which resonates deeply with my target audience. We've seen a remarkable surge in our engagement and the reactions have been fantastic! Huge thanks to Nytro Marketing for their outstanding work!

That is the outcome we aim for with partner marketing teams. Most run lean, so building the capability inside the team tends to matter more than adding another outsourced deliverable.
